Browser storage
Four values, all on your own device, none of them tracking you. Here is each one, what it does and how long it lasts — so you can check rather than trust.
1. The short version
This site sets no cookies at all. It does keep four small values in your own browser, listed in full below. None of them identifies you, none of them is read by anyone else, and none of them follows you to another website.
That is the whole reason there is no consent banner in front of the first thing you see. Not because storage is invisible or because nobody would notice — but because the law asks about the purpose of what is stored, and none of these purposes is tracking.
2. Why this page exists even though there are no cookies
The rule that governs cookies is not actually about cookies. Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive — in Czech law, § 89(3) of Act No. 127/2005 Coll. — is about storing information on your device or reading information already there, by whatever means. In October 2024 the European Data Protection Board confirmed in Guidelines 2/2023 that this covers localStorage and sessionStorage exactly as it covers cookies.
So a site that moved from cookies to browser storage and then announced it had nothing to disclose would be telling you something convenient rather than something true. This page is the alternative: the complete list, so you can check it yourself instead of taking our word for it.
3. Everything that is stored
- darksteady.cart.v1 (localStorage) — Holds what is in your basket — asset names, licence tier and add-on choice. No price and no personal detail. It is never sent to the server. Kept: until you empty the basket or clear your browser data.
- ds-bar-dismissed (sessionStorage) — Remembers that you closed the signup bar, so it stays closed. Kept: until the tab is closed.
- darksteady.packnudge.v1 (sessionStorage) — Remembers which pack-discount message you have already seen, so the same one is not shown twice. Kept: until the tab is closed.
- ds-preloaded (sessionStorage) — Remembers that you have already seen the opening animation, so it does not play again on every page. Kept: until the tab is closed.
The basket is the one that is strictly necessary: a shop that forgets what you put in it is not providing the service you asked for. The other three only remember that you have already seen or dismissed something, so the page does not repeat itself at you. All three disappear when you close the tab.
4. What is not stored
- No advertising or tracking cookies, and no third-party advertising or social network scripts.
- No identifier that would let anyone recognise you between visits or between sites.
- No profile, no behavioural record, and nothing shared with an advertising network.
- Nothing from your basket is ever sent to the server. Pricing happens at checkout, from the catalogue, not from anything stored here.
Where visitor statistics are used they are cookieless and aggregate — page, referrer, country, device type — and cannot be traced back to you.
5. How to get rid of it
Clearing site data for this domain in your browser removes all of it, immediately and permanently. Nothing here is restored afterwards from a server, because none of it was ever on one.
The three session values also disappear on their own when you close the tab. Emptying your basket removes the fourth.
Doing any of this costs you nothing except an empty basket. No part of the store stops working.
