Rope is one of the few props where getting the construction wrong is immediately obvious to anybody who has handled one. The lay here is correct: a braided static line with the sheath pattern running at the right pitch, which is what makes it read as climbing rope rather than a generic tube with a texture on it. Fibre detail is carried in the normal and roughness together, so the surface stays fuzzy at close range and does not go plastic under a strong light. Ships in two states, because they solve completely different problems. The coiled hank is a storage prop: it hangs on a wall, sits in a pack, marks a place as equipped. The loose run is a staging prop: it goes over an edge, ties something shut, or lies where somebody dropped it. Both carry dirt worked into the weave rather than painted over it.
