The flashlight is the prop a survival-horror player spends the most time looking at, because it is the one thing held in frame for the whole game. That is the design brief: it has to survive a first-person camera at arm's length without a single soft edge giving it away. The knurling on the barrel is real geometry rather than a normal map, so the grip reads correctly as the hand rotates it, and the bezel carries the scuffing a torch picks up from being set down on concrete. The lens is modelled as an actual surface with a reflector behind it, which matters the moment you put a light source inside — a flat disc catches nothing. Ships with an emissive map alongside the base colour, normal, roughness and occlusion set, so the bulb can be driven independently of scene lighting. 2,099 triangles: cheap enough to keep on screen permanently, dense enough to hold up in a macro shot.
